Poker Bratislava 2024

March 15th to 24th. Card Casino in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Shuffle up and deal! The Norwegian Poker Championship of 2024 will unfold shortly, and the Kapoow Team will join in on the festivities. Poker NM takes place from March 15th to March 24th in Bratislava, Slovakia, with the Main Event starting on Tuesday, March 19th. The event is among the most anticipated of the year, and we’ll tell you all you need to know.

What is Poker NM?

The Norwegian Poker Championship is an annual event that gathers several thousand poker enthusiasts from Norway and elsewhere. The whole event consists of numerous tournaments, including both limit and no limit versions of Hold’em and Omaha, as well as lots of specials.

The location of Poker NM has changed over the years, with the event being held in Dublin, Ireland for several years. Norway’s strict gambling laws have traditionally restricted the organization of poker games to private homes, and have banned the hosting of such events within the country. For that reason, the championship is held abroad.

Note however that since 2016, an additional championship has been held on Norwegian soil, at Gardemoen outside of Oslo. This event takes place in November, and is separate from the Poker NM we refer to here.

When and where?

Poker NM 2024 will take place over the course of nine days in Bratislava, Slovakia, from March 15th to March 24th. More specifically at the Card Casino, approximately 10 kilometers east of the city center. Main Event Day 1 starts on Tuesday March 19th!

What can you play?

The Norwegian Poker Championship features a variety of poker games, with Texas Hold’em being the most prominent. It includes several events across different buy-in levels, catering to a wide range of players from casual enthusiasts to more serious, competitive individuals. The festival usually spans over about a week plus some, offering not just poker tournaments but also cash games and social gatherings.

The whole event consists of 57 different tournaments, some of which are by invitation only, and some of which are only open for certain demographics. Such as the Ladies and Senior Events. Most tournaments are open for everyone to join, however.

The tournaments buy-ins ranges from €100 up to €5000, with the latter being the 5K Highroller. The big honcho is however the Main Event, which usually draws some 2000-3000 players. The Main Event has a buy-in of €800 + fees. See below for a selection of some of the available tournaments, or click here for the full program:

  • Dealers Choice – €350
  • NLH Turbo – €150
  • Texas Hold’em NL Heads Up – €800
  • PLO – €150/€250
  • Pot Limit Omaha Main – €800
  • Highroller Turbo 8-max – €1000
  • Texas Hold’em No Limit MAIN EVENT – €800
  • Open Face Chinese – €400

What can you win?

The prize money varies based on which tournaments you play, and which level of buy-in they have; and of course, which place you end up at. Suffice to say however, that the winners take home grand prizes in the thousands of euros. The winner of the Main Event in 2022 bagged €127,500.

Who can join Poker NM 2024?

The Norwegian Championship is open for all Norwegian citizens. You will also be able to join as a foreigner if you have a registered address in Norway. For the rest of the world however, it’s unfortunately tough luck! That being said, these rules only apply to the official tournaments; other side events and cash games are still open for everyone.
